11/9/17 Construction Update

For the week of Nov 6 – Nov. 10, 2017

Stamped concrete installed in front of the Kaufman House were construction was complete

Asphalt restoration is completed

Removal of all unnecessary construction signs and barricades will take place by subcontractor providing the signs.

Opening of Main Street Parking were posted.

Construction activities are complete for the year. Constriction will resume in the Spring!!


11/3/17 Construction Update


For the week of Oct. 30 – Nov. 3, 2017

Foundations to the new portico for the Kaufman House

Curb and sidewalk in front of the Kaufman House was installed

Temporary concrete was installed in all walkways in the construction area for winter shutdown.

No parking along a portion of S. Main St continued

For the week of Nov 6 – Nov. 10, 2017

Stamped concrete to be installed in front of the Kaufman House

Asphalt restoration to be completed

Removal of all unnecessary construction signs and barricades

Opening of Main Street Parking once pavement is restored.


10/26/17 Construction Update:

For the week of Oct. 23 - 27, 2017

Foundations to the new portico for the Kaufman House

Concrete sealing and joint filling will continued. All installed concrete will need sealed and joints filled with caulk.

Asphalt restoration on W. New Castle Street and S. Main Street if weather and material availability permits.

No new exactions for utility installation

10/20/17 Construction Update:

 For the week of Oct. 16 - 20, 2017

New water and sewer utilities were installed to the Kaufman House (night work)

Foundations to the new portico for the Kaufman House were laid out and design was approved

Concrete sealing and joint filling will began. All installed concrete will need sealed and joints filled with caulk.

Utility trench across New Castle Street was paved.

No parking along a portion of S. Main St. continued

For the week of Oct. 23 - 27, 2017

Foundations to the new portico for the Kaufman House will begin.

Curb and sidewalk in front of the Kaufman House may be restored if foundations are completed.

10/13/17 Construction Update

For the week of October 9 - 13, 2017

Contractor returned to daylight hours

Utility conduits were installed in front of a portion of the Kaufman House

Crosswalks and curb ramps will be installed at the Main Street and W. New Castle Street intersection

Curb and Sidewalk was installed along W. New Castle Street and Main Street were possible

Paving was not completed due to product availability.  Cold patch material was reinstalled

No Parking along a portion of the 100 Block of S. Main St. continued.

10/6/17 Construction Update

For the week of Oct. 2 - 8, 2017

Night work continued

Concrete installation in the remaining areas along the north side of W. New Castle St. was completed.

Work began on the south side of W. New Castle St. Work began near the Town Center Parking Lot and continue towards Main St.

Utility installation was extended across W. New Castle St. at Main Street.

Concrete was installed were possible on the south side of W. New Castle St.

Some paving was completed as material was available.

For the week of October 9 - 13, 2017

Night work will end sometime this week and the contractor will return to working daylight hours

Utility conduits will continue to be installed along Main Street towards Spring Street.

Crosswalks and curb ramps will be installed at the Main Street and W. New Castle Street intersection

Curb and Sidewalk will be installed along W. New Castle Street and Main Street.

Paving will be completed as material is available.

No Parking along a portion of the 100 Block of S. Main Street will continue


9/29/17 Construction Update

For the week of Sept. 25 - 29, 2017

Night continued.

Paving of utility trenches was completed on Main Street and the majority of the north side of W. New Castle St.

Curb and sidewalk installation along the north side of W. New Castle St. as field conditions allowed.

Utility conduits were installed along W. New Castle Street to Municipal Building driveway.

For the week of Oct. 2 - 8, 2017

Night work will continue.

Concrete installation in the remaining areas along the north side of W. New Castle St.

Begin working on the south side of W. New Castle St. Work will begin near the Town Center Parking Lot and continue towards Main St.

Utility installation will continue across W. New Castle St. at Main Street.

Concrete installation will begin on the south side of W. New Castle St.

The parking along the 100 block S. Main Street will not return until a later date.

9/21/17 Construction Update

For the week of Sept. 17 - 23, 2017

Paving of utility trenches was not completed, Penn DOT certified asphalt was not available at night. Cold patch material was used as a temporary substitute.

Curb and stamped concrete installation continued were conditions allowed.

Utility conduits installed along N Main Street on the West Side.

Utility conduits were partially installed crossing W. New Castle St.

9/15/17 Construction Update

For the week of September 11 - 15, 2017

Curb and concrete installation as weather and field conditions allowed

Utility conduits and lighting foundations installed along N Main Street on the West Side.

Asphalt was not available due to weather and asphalt plant closed for night work. Cold path material was used in utility trench crossings.

For the week of Sept. 17 - 23, 2017

Night work will continue.

Paving of utility trenches as weather and material availability permits.

9/8/17 Construction Update

For the week of Sept. 5 - 8, 2017

Night work continued with the installation of utility conduits along Main Street and crossing of N. Main St.

Curb and stamped concrete installations as time and weather permitted.

Asphalt repair and paving was installed as weather permitted.

For the week of September 11 - 15, 2017

Night work will continue.

Paving restoration for utility crossing of Main Street.

Curb and stamped concrete installation. As conditions allow.

Utility conduits to be installed along N Main Street on the West Side.

Traffic patterns are to be returned to previous conditions. The parking along the 100 block S. Main Street will not return until a later date. Parking restrictions will also be in place for the West side of N. Main St. were posted.



8/25/17 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

For the week of August 21 - 25, 2017

Night work continued with the installation of utility conduits along Main Street and crossing of E. New Castle St.  Utility conduits were also installed in right of way towards High Street.

Curb and stamped concrete installations as time and weather permitted.

For the week of August 27- 31, 2017

Night work will continue.

Curb and stamped concrete installation. As conditions allow.

Utility conduits to be installed along Main Street and across Main Street to the West Side. The utility crossing will be just north of the intersection.

8/18/17 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:


For the week of August 13-18, 2017 - Installation of underground conduits continued. New traffic pattern was put in place to allow for curbs to be installed on the east side of Main Street. The parking lane was removed from the west side of Main Street. No Parking signs and yellow tape put up to help identify the changes and to prevent someone from walking into the new travel lane. Sidewalk restoration continued. Curb and driveways installed. A meeting was held with Penn DOT to identify and resolve any utility conflicts with the proposed traffic signal poles. The new traffic pattern was also inspected by PennDOT representatives.
For the week of August 21 - 25, 2017 - Night work will continue. Curb and stamped concrete installation. Utility conduits to be installed.

8/11/17 CONSTRUCTION NOTIFICATION (Cancelled):

On Sunday, August 13, 2017 necessary new traffic patterns and parking restrictions will go into place on the 100 Block of South Main Street. There will be no parking on the west side of South Main Street from the intersection at New Castle Street to 131 S. Main Street (Fishers Bar and Grill) The existing parking lane in this area will become the southbound travel lane for traffic. The existing northbound travel lane will be moved approximately 10 feet to allow for construction of utilities and installation of new curbing. M&B Services, Zelienople Borough and PennDOT have agreed to the changing of this traffic pattern in the best interest of Public Safety. Work will continue to be from 8 PM – 6 AM Sunday night through Thursday morning while crews are installing underground utilities and concrete restorations. 8/9/17 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

For the week of August 6-11, 2017 - Installation of underground conduits continued. Sidewalk restoration. Curbs and stamped concrete have been postponed until new traffic control measures can be put in place. The contractor received PennDOT approval to remove the parking lane on the west side of Main Street form the Kaufman House to Fishers Bar and Grill and make it the southbound travel lane. The existing north bound lanes would shift to allow construction activities to take place without restricting traffic lanes.

For the week of August 13 - 18, 2017 - Night work will continue. If scheduling permits existing traffic line painting patterns will be removed and new traffic line painting will take place. No parking signs will be installed. Curb and stamped concrete installation. Utility conduits to be installed.

8/4/17 STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

For the week of July 29- August 4, 2017 - Curb and sidewalk restoration continued. Stamped concrete installation continued. Restoration of pavement at the curb along Main Street and Spring Street was completed.
For the week of August 6 - 11, 2017 - On Sunday, August 6, 2017 M&B Services will begin night construction on the Main Street Streetscape Project. There will be NO PARKING and Lane Closures on Main Street from 8 PM – 6 AM Sunday night through Thursday morning while crews are installing underground utilities and concrete restorations. Overnight construction will last 10-12 weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Night work is a Penn DOT requirement for this project and cannot be avoided. Continuation of demolition of curb and sidewalk for electric and communication utility installation. Curb and sidewalk concrete installations will continue behind utility excavations. Stamped concrete will be installed in areas that do not require further utility installations.

7/28/17 STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

For the week of July 21-28, 2017 - Continuation of demolition of curb and sidewalk for electric and communication utility installation. Curb and sidewalk concrete installations will continue behind utility excavations. Stamped concrete was installed in areas that do not require further utility. Repairs were made to a 24” stormwater pipe that was found to be leaking.

For the week of July 29- August 4, 2017 - No utility work is scheduled for next week. Curb and sidewalk restoration will continue. Stamped concrete installation will continue. Restoration of pavement at the curb along Main Street and Spring Street will begin. Parking restrictions and traffic delineations will be in place only when needed.

7/13/17 STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

For the week of July 10th-14th - A continuation of demolition of curb and sidewalk for electric and communication utility installation. Concrete curb and sidewalk installation proceeded behind the utility installations. Parking restrictions were in place as necessary along Main Street to provide the temporary walkway and/or construction vehicles. HORSE TRADING DAYS!! On July 12th the contractor completed work for the week and had excavated areas filled and leveled with stone backfill. All construction equipment, signs and delineators not necessary were removed.

For the week of July 17-21, 2017 - Continuation of demolition of curb and sidewalk for electric and communication utility installation. Curb and sidewalk concrete installations will continue behind utility excavations. Stamped concrete will begin in some areas. Areas to be determined by the contractor. Color selection has been given to the contractor and the Borough has approve a poured sample. We are looking to match the brick pavers used in the walkways to and from the Town Center Parking Lot.

6/30/17 STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

Concrete installation was completed in all areas that required no additional work. Two areas that need additional electrical equipment were backfilled with stone and compacted for pedestrian safety. Areas of proposed stamped concrete were also backfilled with stone and compacted. Areas along the curb which will require final paving have been backfilled and compacted for safety of traffic and pedestrians ahead of the 4th of July Parade. The driveway access to Harper’s Outdoor Power Equipment will remain closed to traffic while concrete cures. Barricades and delineators will remain in place through July 5th.

For the week of July 3rd-7th - July 3rd will be used to continue to work in currently disturbed areas and to clean up for the July 4th festivities. NO WORK IS SCHEDULED July 4th NO WORK PERMITTED July 5th-7th, continuation of demolition of curb and sidewalk for electric and communication utility installation. Concrete installation as applicable. Parking restriction will be in place as necessary along Main Street to provide the temporary walkway and construction vehicles. Additional temporary parking restrictions will occur when concrete is placed. Stamped concrete is not on the contractor’s schedule, the contractor is waiting to have enough area for a significant pour to try to minimize the variations in the dying and stamping process. Color selection has been given to the contractor and the Borough will approve a poured sample prior to installation. We are looking to match the brick pavers used in the walkways to and from the Town Center Parking Lot.

6/22/17 STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

June 13-22, 2017 - Approximately 122’ of sidewalk and curb has been removed and underground utilities are currently being installed. Temporary access has been provided to businesses with plywood and a handrail and ramps leading to the parking lane have been installed to a 4’ delineated walkway. (“Sidewalk Closed” signage remains for PennDOT and ADA compliance) Preparations for concrete installation (curb and sidewalk) have begun on the north and south corners of E. Spring Street. A slight delay was encountered with the design of a curb ramp and conditions found in the field, however, PennDOT has approved the redesigned ramp. Concrete installation is scheduled starting Monday, June 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th. Stamped concrete is not on the contractor’s schedule, the contractor is waiting to have enough area for a significant pour to try to minimize the variations in the dying and stamping process. Color selection has been given to the contractor and the Borough will approve a poured sample prior to installation. We are looking to match the brick pavers used in the walkways to and from the Town Center Parking Lot. Stamped concrete has been removed from the driveways to provide a level of safety for both pedestrians and motorist and will be replaced with a broom finish. This will be consistent with the project.

For the week of July 3rd-7th - July 3rd will be used to continue to work in currently disturbed areas and to clean up for the July 4th festivities. NO ADDITIONAL DEMOLITION IS SCHEDULED July 4th NO WORK PERMITTED July 5th-7th, continuation of demolition of curb and sidewalk and utility installation. Concrete installation as applicable. Parking restriction will be in place as necessary along Main Street to provide the temporary walkway and construction vehicles. Updates on parking will be provided next week with further discussion with M&B.
